Hello, I have setup yesterday evening a VPN with a friend of mine, using on both side an IPCOP 1.3.0 fix 5. Everything works fine but reaching my friend's web server. Net to Net VPN(ipsec) using IPCOP | Elec Dash Tron Dot Org Net to Net VPN(ipsec) using IPCOP. I have had some issues with IPCOPs VPN system. It always takes me ages to work out these problems. So I decided to create a virtual system and test that what i was doing was correct and for future troubleshooting and load testing. IPCop Firewall / [IPCop-user] VPN watchdog IPCop at this end correctly updates dyndns.org, but the other IPCop doesn't seem to look up the domain name - it just carries on trying to start the VPN on the old IP address. I can fix this by SSH'ing into the red interface and running "ipsecctrl S". 2) Net-net, both ends with static IP and DSL connections.
Jul 21, 2012 · IPCop is a Linux firewall distribution that takes an old pc and turns it into a dedicated firewall appliance. It offers advanced features such as IPSec VPN support and is of course licensed under GPL. IPCop is actually a fork of the GPL 0.9.9 version of Smoothwall and hence the two are very similar in many ways.
You can have a lot more interfaces in pfsense than IPcop, and you can configure them however you desire. For remote access VPN, you can use IPsec, but I prefer OpenVPN and would suggest it over IPsec. It's less troublesome because firewalls the client is behind are less likely to break it than IPsec.
